Global Network

The SustainaBuild Canada Team is made up an ever-expanding network of auditors, broker-agents, technology and research partners, consultants and contractors, international reconstruction organizations, and others. Together, they form a “sustainable building-resource management” network that is committed to extending the life cycle of building contents and construction materials through reconstruction.

Management:

The management profile of SustainaBuild includes 30 years of combined experience in the environmental, construction, renovation, demolition and recycling industry; 20 years of pre-demolition auditing, site explorations, and deconstruction projects; and 15 years of consultation within Sustainable Development Strategy (SDS) and LEED oriented projects as well as consultation with the Federal government on the development of deconstruction policy. SustainaBuild Canada Corp provides the Canadian industry with strategies which provide sustainable reconstruction options for building materials as compared to traditional 3R demolition.

Sales and Marketing of Inventory – Brokerage Services:

Currently, authorized in-house SustainaBuild brokers, who have both industry experience and diverse skill sets, identify end users (those who make use of the inventory). To obtain and sell inventory in more markets, Sustainabuild plans to improve the functionality of its web site and expand its reach by developing an integrated, network of independent brokerage organizations. SustainaBuild markets inventory through its brokerage services.

Auditors:

SustainaBuild’s auditors are highly skilled industry professionals. They have knowledge of which building contents and construction materials qualify for auditing, and which site explorations are required to determine the ease of deconstruction. Auditors are trained in hazardous material identification for safety and health reasons. SustainaBuild’s curriculum trains licensed independent audit consultants to conduct audits.

Partners and Affiliates:

Sustainabuild partners with affiliates and organizations within the Construction, Renovation, Demolition, and Recycling industries specifically to provide sustainable development strategies and LEED objectives of building owners and managers.

Research:

SustainaBuild’s combined management expertise has conducted several research projects with the National Research Council and the Industrial Assistance Research Program to enhance the technical processes of improving the electronic redistribution of reused and recycled building materials. Additional research activity involves consultation with Canadian Universities, University of Sarajevo and Northern Alberta Institute of Technology as well as consultation with Public Works and Government Services Canada, National Defence, and Environment Canada.

International Reconstruction:

SustainaBuild’s combined management expertise has been involved with international reconstruction since 1989 with the Nicaraguan Disaster relief project, which involved a shrimp vessel back haul from Canada full of plywood and other building materials donated to Farmers for Peace. In 1992 we also provided construction lumber for the homeless in Mexico through a donation to Habitat for Humanity. In 1994 we were involved with reconstruction efforts in Sarajevo, Boznia Herzegovina which involved consultation and auditing through United Nationals Industrial Development Organization and Canadian International Development Agency.
